Artist statement
“I paint the hour when the light in Kochi turns the colour of turmeric, and everything near the water seems to hold its breath.”
I grew up between Kottayam and Fort Kochi, in houses where the monsoon was a season you listened to. My work starts there: water, weather and the slow life of port towns that have been trading with the world for six hundred years.
I move between oil, watercolour and digital tools depending on what a subject asks for. Oil for heat and weight, watercolour for rain, and digital for pattern and print. All three begin the same way, with a pencil sketch made on site.
